The 38th annual General Assembly of the Members of the Hellenic Marine Environment Association – HELMEPA and the elections for the new Board of Directors, took place on Wednesday, June 24th, 2020, and for the first time online.

Welcoming the participating representatives of the 261 ship-owning Member companies, the Chairman of the Assembly and outgoing Chairman of the Board, Dr. G. Gratsos, stated, among other, that “we should all be proud because HELMEPA has gained the appreciation of the international shipping community, which reflects upon the voluntary spirit of us all”. “And this is due,” he added, “to the consistency with which HELMEPA informs all Members, from shipowner to seafarer, on ship-generated pollution prevention and the continuous enhancement of safety onboard.” After thanking everyone for their contribution, he wished every success to the new Board of Directors, adding that “those of us who serve the mission of HELMEPA in the Board should leave out our professional status and concerns.”
The secret ballot, according to the Articles of the Association, began at 12.00 and ended at 18.00, when the members of the Election Committee, Messrs N. Kambouris of Chandris (Hellas) Inc, E. Sapounadelis of Danaos Shipping Co. Ltd and M. Fragias of S. Livanos (Hellas) SA, in the presence of HELMEPA’s Legal Advisor, Mr. N. Gerassimou, ratified the results.
Elected members of the new Board of Directors, according to the number of votes received, are the following:

In accordance with the Articles of Association, the General Secretary of the Panhellenic Seamens’ Federation, Mr. I. Chalas, is a permanent member of the BoD and is therefore not elected.
The above will convene to form HELMEPA’s new BoD, as required by the Articles of Association.
