Climate change is accelerating, and the facts show how our everyday habits contribute to rising temperatures, pollution, and waste. But by understanding our impact, we can make better choices that help protect the planet.

A short spot on climate change that was created in the context of Metavasea. Climate change is reshaping our world, leaving behind rising seas, extreme weather, and the loss of nature’s balance. Yet these signs are also a call to awaken — reminding us that even small, everyday choices can help protect the planet we share.

Nature has endured for billions of years, evolving through every change the planet has faced. Today, our own impact threatens the balance we depend on — reminding us that our choices will shape our future, not nature’s.

This anniversary publication celebrates HELMEPA’s 40‑year journey, from its early beginnings to its internationally recognized role today. It highlights the organization’s evolution, achievements, and enduring commitment to protecting the marine environment and fostering a culture of safety and responsibility at sea.

The application aims to record and collect valuable data on marine species and visible forms of pollution in surface waters (e.g. floating solid waste and discarded nets, spots, oil spills, grey water, etc.) while at the same time it will contribute to the awareness and active contribution of the project target groups and the general public to the protection of the marine environment.

In order for the voluntary information and education offered by the  Maritime Training Center to be effective in motivating the human element of the Greek shipping community, codified bilingual publications and other audiovisual material have been produced and made available as training aids (publications, leaflets, CDs/DVDs, etc), related to regulations governing safe and environmentally friendly operation of vessels.

Special placards with regulation reminders aiming at the environmental awareness have been disseminated to officers and crews of HELMEPA Member vessels throughout the years.
